What do you look forward to most about getting older?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for December 05, 2008:
I totally love getting older!
As a kid, I already felt old.
Yet I was inexperienced.
Getting older in earth years increases inner calm and strength.
(it requires reflection, though, I´m not saying all older people are well developed)!
I´ve always prefered the company of older people.
Who know themselves.
And therefore have a sense of grounding,
They tend to weigh their words better.
And not freak out so easily over a conflict,
whether emotional, internal, or in a relationship.
They know from experience that this too will pass.
So what I most look forward to about getting older,
is
getting wiser.

wisdom is a state of mind. All of what you said is true but not because of the aging process but because of the state of mind. I have seen wisdom in the eyes of the youth and I have seen it absent in the eyes of the old. Our thoughts don't age. Our ideas don't have a number associated with them. You don't have a cell in your body older then 10 years old. I also have experienced an old mind in my youth but I tell you the truth you can get younger with age.

It’s like how you put it….”not freak out so easily…and having a sense of grounding”…nicely worded Lene.

Lene: Do you know of the pod here “50* stars plus 1/2 century or more on earth” or some name like that? It’s focus is the aging process, which anyone who breathes is doing. I invite you to drop in for a look-see.

Lene: Here I am again. Rereading your response to:”What do you look forward to most about getting older?”
As a kid I had big thoughts and questions but didn’t believe the “big People” would understand.I said nothing.
Looking back today, I see I was right. They really were big thoughts and questions for one so young.
Much of my journey has been among the “newly arrived”. Children. There is the wisdom that many stive for. I’ve heard it. Many adults never achieve it.Years ago my four year old grandson pulled me up short with the question: “Grandma, why are you being mean to Nana?” (my own mother).
You look forward to growing wiser: My experience is that the heart’s truest desires are fulfilled.
As a child, I too thought that Wisdom was something to desire and have.
I am approaching middle age, one-half way to 150 years. I have never been so grounded in all my life.
I see your wisdom at a relatively young age as a sign of the evolution of the universal soul. It is all around us.
